    Let $X \subset \mathbb{P}^{n+c}$ be a nondegenerate smooth projective variety of dimension $n$ defined by quadratic equations. For such varieties, P. Ionescu and F. Russo proved the Hartshorne conjecture on complete intersections, which states that $X$ is a complete intersection provided that $n \geq 2c+1$. As the extremal case, they also classified $X$ with $n=2c$. In this paper, we classify $X$ with $n=2c-1$.

    I studied projective varieties from the viewpoint of the positivity of the tangent bundle. I wrote three papers on the Campana-Peternell conjecture "Any Fano manifold with nef tangent bundle is homogeneous". I also studied more wide class of varieties. As a consequence, I obtained a structure theorem of varieties with nef second exterior power of the tangent bundle and a positive characteristic analogue of the Demailly-Peternell-Scheneider theorem.

    I studied characterization problems of homogeneous varieties from the viewpoint of tangent bundle. In particular, I studied the Campana-Peternell conjecture on Fano manifolds with nef tangent bundle (which is the so-called the CP conjecture) and the Mok-Hong-Hwang conjecture on characterizations of homogeneous varieties by these VMRT's (MHH conjecture). I studied these problems with R. Munoz, G. Occhetta, L. E. Sola Conde and J. A. Wisniewski. Seven papers have been published or accepted for publications.

    I have studied Fano manifolds with nef tangent bundles. It is conjectured that such manifolds are rational and homogeneous by Campana and Peternell, which is called the CP conjecture. First, I proved that the conjecture holds for Fano 5-folds of Picard number >1. The result was published from Math Zeitsherift. On the other hand, I studied some problems related to the CP conjecture with R. Munoz, G. Occhetta, L. Sola Conde and J. Wiśniewski. In particular, we proved that Fano manifolds whose elementary contractions are smooth P1-fibrations are complete flag manifolds. As a corollary, the CP conjecture can be boiled down to another problem. We wrote two papers on this topic and these papers are submitted.
