今年度も前年度に引き続きイタリア現存の中国語関係資料の調査を各自で行ってきた。研究代表者と研究分担者（塩山、奥村、永井、小川）は2023年の9月にイタリアを訪れて、ローマ大学図書館、カサナテンセ図書館、さらに、バチカン図書館とバチカン文書館、また、イエズス会文書館で目録を基に現物を見てリスト作成を行ってきた。ただ、訪問時間には制限があり十分な資料の閲覧は困難な面も多く、それを補う形で各機関の漢籍目録から必要な書誌情報を抽出する作業も同時に行ってきた。なお、研究代表者と小川研究分担者は2月にもバチカンを訪れて資料調査を行った。その際には、特にバチカン文書館における日本関係の資料の発掘に重きを置き、いくらかの成果は得られている。
いずれにしても、目に見える成果はまだ上がってはいないが、特に、研究代表者は多くの国際シンポジウムで関連する資料等について発表を行うと共に、関連する研究者との情報交換を行い、資料の収集に努めた。
この他、現地の研究協力者とは頻繁に連絡を取り合っていて、特にローマ大学のマシーニ教授とトーラ研究員とはオンラインでの討論も行ってきた。この他、カサナテンセ所蔵漢籍目録については、実はすでに新しい漢籍目録が完成しているはずであるが、まだ出版までには至っていないようで、その代わりとして、これまで唯一の貴重なリストとその説明を加えたメネゴン氏の文献を協力者と共にラテン語から中国語への翻訳を完了しており、次年度にはそれを公表する予定である。 -

This research project aimed to examine the phonetic system of Hubei dialect in the 19th-20th centuries and to reconstruct them. As is generally known, Chinese is written by their logographs, therefore it is informative to use the materials recorded in alphabetical manner to analyze the phonetic system.
In this project, the situation in the late 19th century was studied through Ingle's Hankow Syllabary (1899) and a paper by Peter Parker in China Review, while that in the 20th century is discussed on some Italian materials such as De Nino's Piccolo Vocabulario Cinese-Italiano (1925) and Landi's Piccolo Vocabulario Italiano-Cinese (1939). -

It has taken me three years to research and transcribe the journals and letters to the London Missionary Society of Robert Morrison, who is the first Protestant Missionary to China. Most of the documents are in the possession of the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and the British Library.My study of these documents has clarified Morrison’s views on Chinese study and translation when he edited his Chinese and English Dictionary and translated his Chinese Bible. Moreover, his important roles in bridging Eastern and Western culture have been spelled out. It has been confirmed by this research that many of Morrison’s Chinese translations of English terms are the base for the Japanese translation of the same terms. In other words, the Chinese characters for these terms are the same in both Chinese and Japanese.

In 3 years period of the research aid, I published a book from Sanseido and 8 theses, also read 7 papers at the international conferences. My book had repercussions, for example, Zhu Jingwei, professor of Beijing University of Foreign Studies, published a review on Toho (May, 2010) and introduced results by the research. Of my theses, 2 articles were published on refereed journal. Of these papers, 4 papers were presented abroad.

A.外来語導入に伴う漢字音の変化という現象を発見し、新たな訳語交流の類型を見いだした。
「礦(鑛)」は中古音との対応通りならばgong3と読むべき所、現在はkuang4に読む。「工業」と「礦業」は日本製訳語であり後に中国語に借用されたという事実を考えれば、「礦」の読音変化と「礦業」の中国語への導入は深い関係にあることが予想される。即ち「礦」の読音変化には近代日中間言語文化交流が影響していると考えられる。
「礦」の読音変化は呉語の読音が他方言へ拡散したことによる。呉語であった理由には清末の実業教育があろう。実業学堂に呉語圏の学生が多数入学し、彼らが日本製訳語「礦業」を彼らの母方言をもって広めたことにより、その音が定着したと推測される。
「礦」読音の変化はその意味では一種の方言間の借用とも解せるが、かかる借用を促したのは近代日中言語文化交流である。従来それがもたらしたのは訳語の「語形」のみであると考えられてきたが、漢字音にも影響を与えていたことが示された。
B.訳語に関連して来華宣教師・中国人文人の残した漢語資料を調査した。
(1)訳語の基礎方言の問題に関連し、20世紀初頭雲南における漢語教科書を発見した。そこに反映した音系について初歩的な整理を発表することになっている。また、訳語の伝播に影響を与えた西学書の類型について考察を加えた。さらには訳語の基礎方言として全国共通語が中国において来華外国人により設定されるのと軌を一にして、地域においてもそこでの標準語設定が同じく来華外国人によってなされていた様相を明らかにした。
(2)訳語に影響した来華宣教師と交流があった中国人文人に関連し、文法学者として今後注目される畢華珍についてその生平を考証した。
C.ドイツのニュルンベルク=エルランゲン大学における国際シンポジウムに参加し、研究成果の発表と学術交流を行った。
