    <p>Thermoplastic polymers are expected to be used as a matrix for fiber reinforced plastics due to their high formability and recyclability. Particularly, thermoplastic crystalline polymers have a hierarchical structure composed of crystalline phase and amorphous phase. In order to describe large deformation behavior of crystalline polymers, the polymer multiscale models considering these structures have been developed over the past few decades. However, the mechanism of plastic deformation and material parameters of crystalline phase such as anisotropic elastic coefficients, slip systems and critical resolved shear stress of each slip system have been unclear because of its difficulty of experimental measurement. In this study, we used molecular dynamics method to investigate the microscopic deformation behavior and determine the material parameters of crystalline phase of α-isotactic polypropylene (iPP). We reproduced crystalline phase of α-iPP numerically and applied various kinds of deformation. As a result, we determined thirteen anisotropic elastic coefficients. Each value was different, which means that crystalline phase of α-iPP has elastic anisotropy. Moreover observing plastic deformation behavior of molecular chain slip, we found that crystalline phase has six slip systems, i.e., longitudinal slip and transverse slip on three slip planes. We identified the critical resolved shear stress of each slip system from stress-strain responses. Finally, we performed finite element analysis on single crystal of α-iPP using the material parameters obtained by molecular dynamics simulations, which exhibited macroscopic anisotropy in elasticity and yielding.</p>

    High-strength, light-weight metal materials are required to improve safety and reduce transportation cost. Ultrafine-grained metals produced by severe plastic deformation have attracted interest as high-strength materials. In the case of ultrafine-grained metals, strong rolling texture induced by severe plastic deformation influences anisotropy of yield surface remarkably. However, measurement for the yield surface of ultrafine-grained metals requires a great deal of labor. A computational model predicting the yield surfaces of ultrafine-grained metals is desired in the field of materials science and engineering. In this study, using results obtained by electron backscatter diffraction, information on crystal orientation and shape of grains are introduced into a computational model for multiscale crystal plasticity simulation considering the effects of grain boundaries and dislocation sources. Finite element simulations for polycrystal of aluminum under biaxial tension are performed in order to predict yield surface of the ultrafine-grained metal. A genetic algorithm is used to derive the higher-ordered yield function of ultrafine-grained metal. The effects of crystal orientation on the macroscopic mechanical properties of the ultrafine-grained metals are investigated by the obtained numerical results.

    Ultrafine-grained metals whose grain size is less than one micron have attracted interest as high strength materials. However, a mechanism of ultrafine-graining based on evolution of dislocation structures has not been clarified. In this study, we derive reaction-diffusion equations for dislocation patterning of dislocation cell structures and subgrains. In order to express the generation of dislocation pattern responding to deformation progress, information of slip rate and stress and effect of interactions between slip systems on formation of cell structures are introduced into the reaction rate coefficients of reaction-diffusion equations. Moreover, we propose a multiscale crystal plasticity model based on dislocation patterning. Then we carry out two-dimensional FE-FD simulation for severe compression of FCC polycrystal using the present model. Some processes of ultrafine-graining, i.e., generation of dislocation cell structures, subgrains, dense dislocation walls and lamella subdivisions with high angle boundary is numerically reproduced, and we investigate the effect of dislocation behaviors on the processes of ultrafine-graining.

    In this paper, a triple-scale crystal plasticity model bridging three hierarchical material structures, i.e., dislocation structure, grain aggregate and practical macroscopic structure is developed. Geometrically necessary (GN) dislocation density and GN incompatibility are employed so as to describe isolated dislocations and dislocation pairs in a grain, respectively. Then the homogenization method is introduced into the GN dislocation-crystal plasticity model for derivation of the governing equation of macroscopic structure with the mathematical and physical consistencies. Using the present model, a triple-scale FE simulation bridging the above three hierarchical structures is carried out for f.c.c. polycrystals with different mean grain size. It is shown that the present model can qualitatively reproduce size effects of macroscopic specimen with ultrafine-grain, i.e., the increase of initial yield stress, the decrease of hardening ratio after reaching tensile strength and the reduction of tensile ductility with decrease of its grain size. Moreover, the relationship between macroscopic yielding of specimen and microscopic grain yielding is discussed and the mechanism of the poor tensile ductility due to fine-graining is clarified.

However, details of dislocation-crystal plasticity calculation are not given. In this paper, we explain a method of dislocation-crystal plasticity analysis. A finite element simulation is carried out for an f.c.c. single crystal under plane strain tension. It is numerically predicted that micro shear bands are formed at large strain, and sub-GNBs: small angle tilt boundaries are induced along these bands. Furthermore, the annihilation of dislocation pairs and the increase of dislocation mean free path characterizing stage III of work-hardening are computationally predicted.

    Ultrafine-grains (UFG) are induced by warm or cold-rolling process under severe plastic deformation. A transition of microscopic structure of a metal caused by behaviors of dislocations is closely connected with a macroscopic deformation. The information of dislocation field and deformation field is desirable to be coupled in the case of simulation of UFG formation. Profiles of formation process of UFG, e.g., aspects of subdivision and induced grain sizes, are expected to be numerically predicted. In this paper, a numerical method for estimating generation of subdivisions is proposed, and also the induced grain size is introduced into a strain rate sensivity model as an argument. A dislocation-crystal plasticity FE simulation based on the geometrically necessary crystal defects proposed in the previous paper and on the above model is carried out for large deformation of an FCC polycrystal under severe compression plane strain. Distributions of crystal defects and crystal orientations in a specimen are visualized and the influence of strain on separation of grains and one of strain rate sensitivity on refinement of grains under cold-rolling process are discussed in detail.

    Plastic deformation and work-hardening of a crystal are caused by dislocation motions and dislocation accumulations, respectively. Recently, studies of crystal plasticity with the dislocation information have actively been done by many researchers. In this paper, both densities of isolated dislocation and dislocation pair corresponding respectively to the conventional GN and SS dislocation densities are uniformly defined as geometrical quantities, i.e., GN dislocation density and GN incompatibility tensors by extending Kröner's dislocation density and incompatibility tensors so that they are suitable for a crystal plasticity framework. Furthermore, we newly introduce a term of dynamic recovery that occurs in stage III of work-hardening of a single crystal into the expression of dislocation density. A new model of dislocation-crystal plasticity coupling deformation field with dislocation field is developed by introducing these dislocation densities into a hardening modulus matrix of crystal plasticity through the Bailey-Hirsch relation.

    A multiscale model on dislocation patterning of cell structure and subgrain for polycrystal is newly developed on the basis of reaction-diffusion theory. We introduce a threshold value of slip for stage transition corresponding to the initial crystal orientation into a dislocation mean free path model so as to express the dependence of three-stage hardening on the initial crystal orientation of each grain. A FD simulation for dislocation patterning and a FE one for crystal deformation are simultaneously carried out for a FCC polycrystal under severe strain condition. Reflecting stress value on stress-effect coefficients, it is numerically predicted that the evolution of dislocation pattern in a polycrystal is different in response to the stress condition of each grain. Moreover, the formation of GN boundaries with large misorientation angle is observed along subgrain walls due to large deformation.

    Crystal defects induced by irradiation obstruct dislocation movement. Hence, the critical resolved shear stress of irradiated material increases. While part of the radiation defects is swept by dislocations released from dislocation sources, therefore localization of plastic deformation are caused by decrease of radiation defects at the partial region. In this study, in order to predict increase of flow stress due to irradiation, information of densities of radiation defects is introduced into a hardening modulus of crystal. Moreover, decrease of work-hardening ratio is represented by considering disappearance of radiation defects originating in dislocation movement. Values of controlling parameters operating effect of radiation defects on flow stress are decided by a molecular dynamics simulation. We conduct crystal plasticity simulations for copper single crystal under simple tensile condition. The macroscopic stress-strain responses such as increase of yield stress and decrease of work-hardening ratio due to irradiation are numerically predicted.

    In the previous work, the authors developed a dynamic recrystallzation model by coupling the multi-phase-field and the dislocation-crystal plasticity models. Also, a calculation was performed using that model. However, since the free energy of bulk in conventional multi-phase-field model is adopted, the stored dislocation energy is not considered as a driving force of recrystallization. So as to work out this problem, a new double well potential is proposed in this study. This potential function represents the energy of dislocations stored locally in matrix that starts nuclei growing. In addition, the multi-phase-field model with the new double well potential is coupled with the dislocation-crystal plasticity model through the order parameter and the dislocation density. The developed model can be regarded as not only a multiphysics model but also a multiscale one. Furthermore, a simulation is carried out based on the present model to reproduce the nucleus growth and crystal deformation simultaneously.

    Stress corrosion cracking (SCC) is one of the critical concerns as degradation of structural components in light water reactors for long period. It takes the form of intergranular stress corrosion cracking (IGSCC). Many studies on IGSCC have been conducted over several decades, however the mechanism of IGSCC initiation and propagation is not fully understood. In this study, a crystal plasticity model expressing IGSCC is proposed by considering information of oxidation along grain boundaries and failure of oxide film due to localization of deformation. From a crystal plasticity finite element analysis and a oxygen reaction-diffusion finite difference analysis based on the presented model, IGSCC is numerically reproduced and we discuss about the effect of dissolved oxygen and strain localization on the propagation behavior of crack.

    工業用純チタン(2種)に多軸鍛造(Multi-Directional Forging/MDF)後に平圧延,溝ロール圧延を適用し,板材とワイヤーを作製した.板材は,引張強度900MPa以上と塑性伸び15%前後の優れた機械的特性を有していた.一方,溝ロール圧延材は,ほぼ同等以上の引張強度を有していた.この中で特性が安定して大量に作りやすい板材を金沢大に送付し,各種特性調査を行って頂いた.その結果,i) 板材には力学的特性の異方性がある事,ii) 機械的特性に大きな結晶粒径依存性がある事,iii) 比較的低温で再結晶が起こり,当時首細粒名変化する事,等が明らかとなった.
    また,実験によって得られた各種結晶塑性・力学的特性情報を金沢大と東北大の計算グループに提供し,その変形挙動と特性発現機構についてシミュレーションを行って頂いた.その結果,ヘテロナノ超微細粒チタンの塑性変形は,主として変形双晶の形成と粒界からの転位放出によってまかなわれている可能性が示唆された.さらに,より高強度化するためには,底面が板材圧延面と平行,底面が棒材長手方向と平行である事が望ましいが,その場合,ヤング率が高くなってしまうことも示された.
    一部MDF材は,医科歯科系大学の研究室に提供され,フッ素溶液に対する耐食性と歯科パーシャルデンチャーとしての適用の可能性について検討して頂いた.その結果,フッ素溶液に対する耐食性は,従来の通常粒サイズの純チタンと同等だが,表面粗さが大きくなる特徴が見いだされた.また,歯科パーシャルデンチャーとして重要な耐摩耗性は一般的な純チタンと同等で,プラーク付着も同等だが,切削加工性に優れることが見いだされた.
    得られた各種情報から,ヘテロナノチタンの特性を加工熱処理法によって制御し,より優れたインプラント用純チタンとして開発する方向が示された.

    A CAE system was established to reproduce the deformation behavior of advanced materials, such as fiber-reinforced thermoplastics and ultrafine-grained metal materials. Such advanced materials will be rapidly used as structural materials in the future. We numerically predicted the yield function used in CAE for structural analysis based on the experimental multiscale mechanics. The deformation behavior of advanced materials was described based on information on the microstructure obtained from experimental observations. The estimation system for contours of constant plastic work was improved by comparing the analysis results with the experimental results of microstructural observations and biaxial tensile tests. By installing the yield function into general-purpose structural analysis software, it is possible to seamlessly connect a series of processes from material design to development and practical use using CAE.

    For true materials design, it is necessary to construct an integrated materials design system that encompasses the entire life cycle of structural materials (production, processing, use, degradation, and reuse). In this international collaborative research, we attempted to achieve a breakthrough in structural materials design methodologies through the collaboration of professionals in the field who are skilled in multiscale modeling for different scales. By integrating the material design knowledge of an international collaborator into the multiscale model proposed by the principal investigator, we have created a part of an integrated computational material design system for structural material lifecycle.

    In order to generate calcium carbonate applicable to structural materials that follow biomineralization such as shell and crustaceans, mechanical properties of materials produced by biomineralization such as shell and crab were investigated, and production of calcium carbonate by laser was tried inspiring by lime scale such as water scale. It was revealed that many shells were aragonite, the exterior shell and the scallops were calcite, that the yield stress of aragonite was about 1 GPa and the yield stress of calcite was about 400 MPa using an inverse analysis of an indentation test. It was also demonstrated that calcium carbonate could be generated by irradiating a laser beam to a test specimen placed in the aqueous calcium hydrogen carbonate solution.

    Micro structures and stress-strain response of polypropylene with different spherulite size prepared by changing the cooling conditions in order to investigate effects of crystalline and amorphous structures on mechanical properties of crystalline polymers. The crystallinity, elastic modulus and yield stress increase with increasing spherulite size. We perform a polymer plasticity simulation considering a spherulite structure consisting of the amorphous and crystalline phases. Information on the crystallinity of spherulite obtained from experiments is introduced into a computational model. We thoroughly evaluate the effect of the spherulite structure on the material properties of polypropylene. Moreover, we investigate microscopic plasticity behavior of crystalline and amorphous phases by the molecular dynamics simulation. Localized slip deformation is propagated thorough the sample with kink rotation of molecular chains.

    In order to suppress of hydrogen embrittlement of metallic materials, which is an obstacle to realize hydrogen society, “hybrid peening” was established. Here, “hybrid peening” means a mechanical surface treatment which combined with different peening method such cavitation peening, laser peening and shot peening. In the present research, suppression of hydrogen embrittlement of chrome molybdenum steel and stainless steel by the peening was demonstrated by experimentally. It was also revealed that the peening reduced invention of hydrogen into metallic materials by introducing compressive residual stress into the materials and the peening suppressed the hydrogen embrittlement of the metallic materials.

    In bulk nanostructured metals, the volume fraction of grain boundary and interface (plane defects) rapidly increases. Thus, it is very important to investigate the development of lattice defects through grain boundaries, which is closely related with the anomalous mechanical characteristics of BNMs. In this study, the development of
    complicated interior lattice defects in BNMs was expressed by the large-scale calculation by the atomistic model which can directly express atomic structure of grain boundary (molecular dynamics) and the continuum modeling considering the effect of grain boundaries (crystal plasticity theory), and we investigated the grain size dependence of the following phenomena: (1) dislocation emissions from grain boundaries, (2) the crack tip plasticity based on the interaction between dislocations and grain boundaries, and (3) the propagation mechanism of the plastic deformation based on the formation and dissipation of lattice defects.

    A phase-field model is constructed from conservation laws corresponding to the energy principle. The conservation laws are derived by microscopic physical quantities on the crystal lattice scale. A static recrystallization phenomenon is calculated by the presented model. Moreover, coupling the multi-phase-field model and the dislocation-crystal plasticity model, we construct a dynamic recrystallization model considering nucleation based on dislocation accumulation.

    In this study, it has been succeeded that peculiar mechanical behaviors occurring in f. c. c. ultrafine-grained metals, i. e., increase of strength and decrease of ductility with decrease of grain size, yield stress drop and propagation of Luders band are computationally reproduced by using a critical resolved shear stress model proposed newly for situation of dislocation exhaustion and by developing a multiscale crystal plasticity model bridging three hierarchical scales, i. e., dislocation structure, grain aggregates and macroscopic structure through the homogenization method. Moreover, a mechanism of ductility improvement of bimodal structures with coarse grains dispersed in ultrafine-grained matrix is also discussed.

    セル構造およびサブグレインの自己組織化を表現する反応一拡散方程式を導出し, 転位の反応速度係数および拡散係数を各すべり系の活動状況を考慮してモデル化した. また, 反応一拡散モデルの簡素化を図り, 応力の増加に伴って拡散係数のみを変化させることにより転位パターニングを表現した. さらに, 転位密度の基準値を幾何学的に必要な(GN)結晶欠陥密度から推定することによって, 変形場と転位場を連成させたマルチスケール結晶塑性モデルを構築した. 本モデルを用いて, 結晶の変形に対するFEM解析および転位組織形成に対するFDM解析を行い, すべり系の活動状況に対応した転位パターンを再現した. さらに, 巨大圧縮ひずみを付与したFCC多結晶平板を想定し, FCC結晶の12すべり系を考慮した擬似3次元結晶塑性解析を行った. その結果, サブグレイン壁に沿った小傾角粒界が大角化してマイクロバンドが発現し, マイクロバンドで囲まれたサブグレイン群がラメラ状サブディビジョンへ発展する過程を再現した. 以上の数値解析に基づいて, 巨大ひずみによって誘起される超微細粒の創製メカニズムの初期プロセスについて考察した. 一方, 微細粒金属の特異な力学特性を表現するために, 転位の微視構造, 結晶粒構造および巨視構造という3階層を橋渡しするトリプルスケール転位-結晶塑性モデルを構築した. その際, 低転位密度の微細粒では塑性変形の素因となる転位の枯渇から流れ応力が変形の初期において-時的に増加することを表現できる新たな臨界分解せん断応カモデルを提案した. また, 全転位密度の定義には, GN転位密度およびGN不適合度を採用した. 以上のモデルを用いて, 初期粒径および初期転位密度の異なるFCC多結晶に対してFEM解析を実施し, 超微細粒金属における寸法効果ならびにFCC微細粒焼鈍材に発現する降伏点降下現象およびLuders帯の伝ぱを再現した.

    分子鎖網目モデルを用いて熱硬化性高分子のm~mmオーダの変形をモデル化する。分子鎖網目モデルは分子鎖の運動に基づいて定式化された高分子材料専用の大変形構成式であり、本モデルの熱硬化性高分子への適用は分子動力学による分子鎖挙動を基礎とした巨視スケールでの変形を記述可能にする。したがって本研究は、分子動力学によって得られるnmスケールの変形と巨視的スケールで評価された実験結果を橋渡しするための重要なテーマである。図は非晶性高分子の不均一変形に及ぼす微視的な空孔の影響を均質化法により解析したものである。このように分子鎖網目モデルはマルチスケール解析においても適用されており、プロジェクトを進めるうえで、熱硬化性高分子母材の充填強化の影響や、FRPの階層構造に基づく変形評価の展開にも寄与できる。
