This project examines how 19th and 20th century English poetry has represented the expansion of consciousness through a variety of formal and thematic features. It specifically focuses on the English literary tradition of the depiction of fantastical, supernatural, and otherworldly themes and imagery, examining how the treatment of those themes works to expand and alter ideas of consciousness itself.
